I Don’t Know What It Means, But…

June 25th, 2011

I don’t always look for coincidence, but I notice when it happens. Strange things. Why, for example, did the strange last name “Grimes” come up twice today on separate occasions? Why was Elijah Wood in two things that I watched today, seemingly randomly, as I did not choose either thing?

Coincidence is awesome, but it’s always better when I can discern the meaning.

Well, suffice it to say this: I have no idea what the Grimes thing is all about, but I enjoyed both Elijah Wood things. One was The Oxford Murders, which may have been the last thing that Netflix currently has that I might have enjoyed. =) The other was Wilfred, which I have been wanting to see for a long time, and which Wendy recorded, so I got to see it tonight. It must be hellishly difficult to shake off a role like playing Frodo. I mean, every time I see Elijah Wood swear, or kiss someone, I just flinch a little inside. It’s not that he’s not doing a great job. He is. It’s that his part as Frodo is burned into my retinas and it’s going to take some exposure to him playing someone else at length for that to go away for me. I think Wilfred will take care of it nicely. Impressive acting all around, and hilarious script.

FX should really start paying me. I have hyped Archer endlessly for them, including getting a Neilson Family on board, and now I’m going to send the same family Wilfred’s way. You’re welcome FX. If you ever want to thank me, you can find me here. I have a nice wish list, none of which is too demanding. I don’t even want my own pony or anything.
